Major: Apparel Design
This piece is connected to design because the textiles themselves are original work and the dress is an original pattern design. The lace is dip-dyed in pearl grey and black dye to create a distressed ómbre effect. The embellishment on the bodice of the dress features the embroidery of flowers found outside within the cold, Wisconsin tundra. I preserved the flowers and placed them on the bodice along with a gradation of beadwork. This piece incorporates textile manipulation techniques as well as apparel design to create a dynamic piece inspired by the deconstruction and beauty of nature in the winter months.
