Rectangles and Squares, Enchanted

Name: Sarah Nasgowitz

This piece was based off of the assignment of creating a garment using only pieces of fabric in the shape of rectangles and squares. This was a design challenge because I needed to find a way to fit rectangles to the curve of the woman’s body. I decided to use only two rectangles for the base of the dress. I created two more long rectangles for a tie closure at the neck and one more rectangle at the waist acting as a belt. This belt piece created the fit to the curve and added shape to the piece. The scarf is created of many rectangles basted and pulled to create a ruched look.
